Monday, September 06, 2004 I'm in Canada Hello everyone. Decided that it's easier to write down everything here than to mail you all one by one saying the same things over and over again! But I will still send personal emails though.. Here goes.. =)I've been here for a week now. People here are really friendly and sociable. Even strangers chat with you non-stop! When you go on the bus, take a cab etc. Still trying to get adjusted that everyone says hi to everyone! haha.. not like Malaysia or Singapore. And there is really so many different types of ppl here.. Polish, Russian, Persian, Korean, Taiwanese, China Chinese, Italian too.. So many.. But most of them who are my age are Canadian born.. ya, and i have to get use to their accent. I tend to speak slower den all of them.. err.. aha Hmm, the weather here is fine. It's in fact hot these 3 days.. Late summer now. I had to switch on my fan full blast! But it'll get cooler soon.. so.. oh no! And the land here is really huge! So when a Canadian tell you to go somewhere near, be prepared.. Cos their 'near' is like few hours! haha.. So.. Dun be deceived! Their not many highrise buildings around.. Only in downtown u get big malls with multi levels. But near my uni, they tend to build sideways. Maximum 2 floors.. And it's like just one building for one thing. Like a cafe will be a bulding itself with parking lots. and they will have one mall on it's own. And you get an isolated buildings everywhere. Too much land i suppose. But there are places where everything is together, like the towncentre! The transportation here is also very efficient.. Just like Singapore. In fact i find it easy to read the maps cos their all in grids. All their roads are straight! So if u wanna go somewhere which needs to turn left or right then u change another bus. And all the bus stops are at intersections of 2 streets. So that's basically how they give you directions to go to different places. Quite cool! And u pay a fix amount no matter how far or how near u go. U can keep changing buses with the same ticket.. or even change to subway.. it's all linked. to be continued... Post a Comment |
