White Chinese New Year - M1 Cottage Trip

Yet another Chinese New Year away from home!! *sigh* above u can see some of our attempts to decorate our house for CNY despite the minimal resources we have.. hehe.. not bad right?AND the bottom right pic above is the only angpau (a.k.a red packet) that i received this yr.. From my accounting prof.. fake looney & tooney choc.. hehe.. Even my econs prof (who is white) gave us CNY candies, quite thoughtful i must say!! okok, not my only angpau la.. My mum told me she kept some for me back home.. =) but physically, i only had ONE *sobs*

Isn't this THE MOST white-washed chinese thing u've ever seen?? Fortune Ginger Bread Man!! Talk about marketing, commercialization blah blah blah.. North America!! u can tell what's the next festival just by looking at chocolate packaging i tell u.. & below is a random pic i took of my frozen window, & the 2 plants growing healthily under my great care!!

Back to the title of my post, i had a truly WHITE chinese new year.. hehe, this year, we went up to Ashley's Dad's (Dave) cottage for the weekend.. It was a truly snowy CNY.. Dave actually went out to buy fireworks and sparklers for us!! *touched* brings back all those childhood memories.. Especially the one where i went too near the fireworks and the tail of my blue teddy bear pyjamas caught fire at uncle Loh's house.. =P Tiff & I were lying on snow star-gazing, singing cheesy CNY songs.. Ashley must be thinking we've gone mad!!

Haha, besides that, we boiled frozen dumplings, made noodles and stuff for Ashley's family.. adding on to the Chilis Lisa made and the casserole dish Ashley made.. Odd combi! haha.. Jake (Ashley's bro) is fainting from the wonderfulness of our cooking! And den we ended up reliving Tiff's childhood super nintendo games.. haha..

That's us skating on our 'self-shovelled' skating rink on the lake.. Well, Jake & Ash did most of the work, the snow i dugged out was negligible.. Jake came out with the brilliant idea of rolling snow balls.. And that's Ashley doing the twirly pro-skater stunt!

Our Gigantic snowballs eventually became snow seats for rest.. Jake's was a snow 'throne'.. Awww, but Ashley's snow seat toppled.. And that's me in a T-SHIRT & snow pants on only.. I guess skating & shovelling heats u up!

Snowmobiling.. The world's greatest invention!! FUN is the word..

Beautiful Sunset.. All good things come to an end. Thanks for organzing the trip, Ashley.. Now, back to reality: Assignments due, job interviews, Presentations, Midterms etc etc.
