Friday, March 10, 2006 House search!![]() First stop, police station! Tiff had to get some clearance form for her summer job. Due to too much tv, Tiff & I had this impression that the place will be filled with fierce-looking ppl and have police dragging criminals in every minute.. HAHA.. it just looked like a nice office, which even has a police museum thingy on display.. yupyup, i hope they didn't think i was a terrorist or something, snapping pics here and there. ok, now u gotta bear with me cos i'm going to tell you about the 5 houses we checked out today. And if u want, u can give me some advice on which one u think will be the best! red for bad points, blue for good points. 1. Nill-Wcik Co-op Residence - the so-so one This one is like a student residence, dormitory style 4-6 ppl per unit.. Each unit has a shared kitchen & 2 washrooms. I didn't get to see the rooms though, cos it was all occupied. Price: $431 per mth (utilities & internet included) Duration: Possibility for staying all 8 mths there, but not guaranteed, cos hv to apply and see whether there's space (like rez application) Location: Quite far from my work place and china town (groceries) Furnitures & Utilities: bed, table, closet, laundry available 2. Gerrard & Church intersection - the cannot make it one This one is just plain creepy!!!! We were like walking, walking, walking looking for the right house.. took one look at the house, look at each other, not this one!?! it was like a haunted house!! windows cannot even open.. floorboards all flying up from the floor.. AHH... although it's only like 300.. even if u pay me 300 i won't stay there.. side note: on the way there, we heard this guy playing the 'autumn in my heart' theme song on his guitar.. for a moment, we thought we were hallucinating.. haha, watch too much korean series for the past week.. nua-week =P 3. Dundas & McCaul - the mid range one http://geocities.com/dundasapartment/dundas_house.html I guess u can get a better view from this website cos they post up pics there.. This is the one i kinda thought was the best before i the house search process. And it is actually pretty good!! =)They even have air-conditioning. except for the really creepy walkway to the side door.. hmmm.. it's like walking in between 2 houses without lights.. but other than that, it looks really clean and pretty. the ppl staying in the house are all students going on their work term and stuff. so it sounds pretty 'safe' Price: $500 per mth (internet cost $10 more, utilities included) Duration: only for 4 months (which is bad cos that means i hv to house search n move again) Location: Nearest one to my work place Furnitures & Utilities: bed, table, closet, laundry available 4. Elm and McCaul - the luxurious one My fren's place.. she going away for the summer so she just want someone to take over for her. It's a 2 bedroom apartment, so i only need to share the kitchen and washroom with one other guy. That place is like a hotel k? she has super nice view, big windows kind.. GIGANTIC room, HUGE built in closet. The other guy is from Msia oso, he's the MSSA photographer guy.. hmm.. Price: $500 per mth (internet & phone cost $40 more, utilities included) usually she pays 600 per mth, she giving me a deal Duration: only for 4 months (which is bad cos that means i hv to house search n move again) Location: Just bit further den the one on Dundas and McCaul Furnitures & Utilities: bed, table, closet, laundry, air-conditioning available 5. Dundas and Spadina - THE ONE? This one is a house. 6 ppl stay there, 2 boys staying in the basement, they hv their own kitchen & washroom. 4 girls upstairs, share one kitchen and washroom. Looks clean enuff but the stove bit old. My room would be the bigger one and i hv my own separate entrance!! AND most importantly, both of us came out feeling good about the place. it had a good vibe .. haha.. but i didn't really get to see the ppl staying there.. so aiihh.. dunno laaaa... Price: $400 per mth (internet & utilities included) Duration: definitely can stay for 8 months Location: Furthest from my workplace but close to chinatown. Furnitures & Utilities: bed & chair only. No table and closet. laundry is just downstairs & it's only 75 cents per wash. ![]() After looking at the last house, we were close by chinatown, so we went for dinner! After looking at many 'we can't afford this' and 'i dun wanna eat that' places, we ended up at some chinese restaurant. However, after looking at the dull-looking menu we decided to run out of the restaurant! =P we ended up at a vietnamese restaurant, pho hung.. guess what we found there? SOFT SHELL CRAB! as seen in pic above (sorry if i'm making u drool) and it was one of those better ones too, where it's not only crispy, it has nice meat in it.. whoaaa.. And it was only 6 bucks! where else can u find crab that is so cheap?? we're such seafood addicts =P Good thing we ran out of the dull chinese restaurant place & decided to come here instead!! After dinner, Tiff said there was this nice warm feeling in her tummy. *nods* agreed~ Tiff, thanks for checking out the places with me!! the creepy house, the running from house to house, the freezing fingers, our bubble tea, trying to figure out the maps & seafoooood! my evil twin.. =) Post a Comment |
