back in toronto

Coming back to toronto this time has this -so familiar but yet not so familiar- feeling.. i wonder if it's bcos Toronto is not the same without Mel around! i realize many of my favourite restaurants, cafes and even contact with certain friends is through mel... when li ning and i found out our friend studying in Princeton was coming back to Toronto for thanksgiving, we were like "how come we don't know ah..." "ohhh... of course la, mel is not around!" =P

Anyways, the past week has been crazy.. I'll start from pre-departure.. Last few days in Chicago, I was packing packing, house searching searching.. I tell you, it's pretty intense to look for a place in less than a week. But as you all know, God always provides. So happen it was the first session of small group the weekend before i left. And a girl i met there intro me to another girl from cantonese service -- which is now my future roomate! it's really God's hand at work la.. cos hor, even if i wanted to lease a studio apartment, i realize i didnt even have a US bank account! haha... i'll tell you more about her and my new place when i move in la...

So ya, i decided to move to her place like one day before I left chicago.. So the night before i just dump everything into a cab trunk.. Moved over.. Done! And den met up with the 'asian table + jodie + yvonne' group for dinner at a louisiana style dinner place... very interesting cuisine i must say.. see all the chilli bottles on the wall?

ohya, and Alan even had this dish where he had to sign an agreement that he won't sue the restaurant because it was too spicy..

okok, my pre-departure is getting too long! anyways, fast forward to me standing on canadian soil already .. haha, got off the plane, took a cab to ann's place, dinner with li ning, calvin and wan ting.. just a simple chinese restaurant, eating fish congee and yao choy sum => contented.. & i paid 8 bucks for it... no wonder i felt so poor in chicago!

and my following weekend was a blur bcos i had so many errands to run & ppl to meet up! haha, okok, i think i can claim the last minute queen title already.. i had to go pay the visa fees at Scotia bank (thank God for banks opening on saturdays), take picture for visa and buy an envelope with pre-paid postage (thanks to Shoppers~).. and in between all that, i manage to visit my colleague & his family, meet up with UTSC frens, and did some packing at ben's place... muahaha... i was so tired even before the week started!

Chris' (my colleague) son is so cute!!! he has super round face, super round eyes, curly blonde hair, and a big wide smile that makes u just melt.. oh, and did i tell u he can actually move a 5 pound weight thingy??? haha.. i think this 1.5 year old baby is stronger than me! and his baby language is so funny.. he calls me OE.. and calls himself ICKY (nicky).. haha, and he grabbed some chopped up bananas in his hands and went like NANAs .. NANAs .. haha ok i can go on and on about it.. but ya, such a pleasant baby.. i miss him already! squishy little thing.. hahaha...
